The BRIDGE CLOSED 500 FT (NYW8-4) sign may be used to provide advance warning that a bridge is closed.
Guidance
Where used, the BRIDGE CLOSED 500FT sign should be placed in advance of each location where a ROAD CLOSED (R11-2) sign or BRIDGE OUT XX MILES AHEAD LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY (R11-3b) sign is displayed and no alternative path is signed at that location (i.e., the ROAD CLOSED or BRIDGE OUT XX MILES AHEAD LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY sign is not accompanied by a Detour Arrow (M4-10).
